Are credit card companies and banks charities? Do they fund or give into the Kingdom of God? The Answer is NO! So why do so many Christians give them lots of money?
The Bible says that everything belongs to God.
Psalm 24:1 (GW) 1 A psalm by David. The earth and everything it contains are the LORD'S. The world and all who live in it are his.
1 Corinthians 10:26 (GW) 26 Certainly, “The earth is the Lord's and everything it contains is his.”
Deuteronomy 10:14 (GW) 14 Remember that the sky, the highest heaven, the earth and everything it contains belong to the LORD your God.
Do you believe that if people would understand that God owns everything, they would choose to live their lives differently? For example, would you treat God’s children differently if you understood that children belong to God and He allowed you to raise them up His way? What an honor. Or if you understood the money you have in the bank and in your wallet belongs to God, would you ask Him how to spend it? Especially when the Bible calls us stewards. The definition of steward is “a person who manages another’s property or financial affairs”. We are called to manage what belongs to God here on earth that includes the money.
1 Corinthians 4:2 It is required of stewards or managers that one be found faithful and trustworthy
The Bible also states that we should have no debt:
Romans 13:8 (AMP) 8 Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law
Deuteronomy 28:12 (AMP) 12 The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
Proverbs 22:7 (AMP) 7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Could you imagine how much good we could do to help others in need if we stopped giving to the banks and credit companies? It is important to save and put money into a giving account, for the purpose of giving for those in need. According to Northwestern Mutual’s 2018 Planning and Progress Study (Aug 20, 2018,) the average American household carries $38,000 in personal debt, excluding home mortgage. That money could help a lot of people.
Prayer and Declaration: Father we declare that everything in our possession is yours, our properties, our children, the money. We choose to be responsible for the care and stewardship of it in a trustworthy manner. We thank you that you are the source for all things good. We thank you that you enjoy rewarding the giver. Amen!
