Equality is Biblical

Updated: Jun 12

EQUALITY is Biblical

Many scriptures are clear about how God created humans to be equal. God does not oppress or discriminate and commands us to do the same. Jesus preached about discrimination and judgement based on outward appearances.

Equality does not mean we are the same. The dictionary defines it as “the state of being equal especially in status, rights, and opportunities”. Even the declaration of independence lays out the government philosophy that “all citizens are equal and entitled to certain inalienable rights including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Yet many preach that God’s government, is to discriminate against His daughters, especially wives by treating them as inferior or subordinate to man. What a perversion of God’s love and nature!

Women, married or single, are not inferior to men just as no race or person is inferior to another. These misunderstandings and wrong translations in the Bible have already been debunked but many refuse to do the research or believe the correct findings. See my book “Le My Women Go! Setting Women Free from Oppression in the Church and in Marriage” for the correct translations regarding women and wives. You may also check out Lee Grady’s books 10 lies the Church tells Women or 10 lies the Church tells Men.

Once sin entered the world, the effects of it began to create hierarchies and division between men and women. The demonic spirits of pride, religious legalism, arrogance, haughtiness, and domination began the battle for control and supreme authority or superiority. Putting husbands above the wife instead of God is a sin of idolatry. It is idolatry to put anyone or anything before or above God. Abuse and oppression come from pride - attitudes of superiority taken from inaccurate Bible translations. Inequality and domination grew as a result.

To be prejudice against women or to discriminate against them as inferior, is called chauvinism, sexism, and in worse cases, misogynism. To treat women as inferior, less intelligent, easily deceived, a subordinate to a husband, less important, are deceptions from the enemy to keep women in bondage. Jesus came to redeem us from the world curse system that sin established and to set the captives free. The definition of captive in the Webster’s Dictionary is “held under control of another but having the appearance of independence”. Many women are held captive in their marriage. Holy Spirit once told me that being in an oppressive, or controlling, or abusive marriage is not a marriage but a prison sentence. God didn’t create His daughters to be oppressed, abused, or controlled. Those are characteristics of the devil.

Marriage is meant to be a replica of Jesus’ love for His bride the Church (Eph 5:32 TPT). Jesus’ love is sacrificial, He died for His bride to set Her free. There is no freedom in someone ruling over you and always having the last say. Jesus' style of leadership is to serve and not be served (Mark 10:41-45), to put others ahead of Himself (Phil 2:3), to outdo one another in showing respect and honor (Rom 12:10). Jesus who is love (1 John 4:16) does not abuse, control, demand or impose.

There are many leaders within the body of Christ, with Jesus as the Head. Every Christian is called to lead, to be above only, and not beneath (Deut. 28:13). The Godhead - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit exemplify being one, working together while possessing equal power and authority. There is no hierarchy within the Trinity. Therefore, marriage as a replica of the Body of Christ has no hierarchy. Husband and wife co-lead, yielding to one another’s strengths, gifts, and anointing. Working together as one, while possessing equal power and authority, being led by the Godhead.

See my book “Before the Ring and Beyond, The Ultimate Key to a Healthy Marriage” to learn the one skill that if practiced can make any relationship succeed, especially marriage. The appendix in the book has a long list of scriptures of how God hates attitudes of superiority.

So He created mankind in His own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

25) 1 John 4:4 – for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world. (the Holy Spirit in a husband does not have more authority than the Holy Spirit in a wife).

26) 1 John 4:17 – all that Jesus now is, so are we in this world

For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptized into one body,[spiritually transformed – united together] whether Jews or Greek (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made do drink of one [Holy Spirit] [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life].

(Jesus is the Head of the body, we each have a vital and unique part to play in His body. We all share in His authority because the head and the body are one).
